How it worked
A Secret shopper was sent into each store that entered into the competition and asked for two cold pies and two cold sausage rolls. They were than placed into a numbered box and kept cold, from this point forward the entrant was only known as a number. Once the pies and sausage rolls came back to judging headquarters they were judged by a professional panel which had a combined experience of over 60 years, one of each product was judged hot and cold and marks were given accordingly.

The Entrants were then divided into 5 Regions:

• Sydney Metro
• Central Coast – Hunter
• Blue Mountains — Central West
• Illawarra — South Coast
• Canberra ACT

The pie and sausage roll which scored the most points from each region was then awarded regional winners and was secret shopped again, this was done all on the same day so each pie and sausage roll was given equal opportunity to perform. Once again the products were brought back to judging headquarters where our panel of professional judges analysed the pies and sausage rolls. From these results The Big Brands Champion Pie and Champion Sausage Roll was determined. Once the judging was over, regional winners were notified and reports were sent out to all entrants.
